PriceGate Terms of Service

PriceGate (formerly PriceSentry).

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the PriceGate browser extension ("Extension" or "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Extension.

You must be at least 13 years old to use PriceGate, and if you are under 18 you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use the Service. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you must be at least the age of digital consent in your country (which is between 13 and 16, depending on the country) or have parental consent. PriceGate is a general-audience shopping tool and is not directed at children.

2. Description of Service

PriceGate is a browser extension that helps you track product prices across a range of online stores. It currently supports:

Amazon, across 16 international marketplaces including Amazon.ae (UAE), .com, .co.uk, .de, .fr, .it, .es, .ca, .com.au, .co.jp, .in, .com.br, .com.mx, .nl, .se and .sa
Sharaf DG, Zara, H&M, IKEA, Home Centre, Kibsons, Brands For Less, iHerb, and 6th Street (including its aivi.com storefront)

With PriceGate you can:

Track product prices and view price history charts and trends
Receive price drop alerts and notifications (including back-in-stock alerts)
See a community deal feed of trending price drops other users are catching
Import your Amazon wishlist to track items in bulk
Optionally sync your data across devices via cloud storage
Share deals with friends via WhatsApp, Telegram, a copied link, or email
Earn achievement badges

The list of supported stores and features may grow or change over time.

Service Limitations

PriceGate is provided for personal, non-commercial use only
Price data is collected on a best-effort basis and may not always be accurate
Service availability is not guaranteed
Features may change or be discontinued with notice
Free accounts can track up to 50 products and run a limited number of price checks per day. If you already track more than 50 products, you keep them all, but you cannot add new ones until you are under the limit
Community price history is provided only through the Extension. Accessing our database or services directly, outside the Extension, is not permitted

3. Account Registration

Account creation is optional. You can use PriceGate locally without an account: local price tracking, local price history, and local alerts all work with no sign-up. An account unlocks optional cloud sync, friend and email sharing, and contributing to the community price database.

If you create an account:

You must provide accurate and complete information
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
You must not share your account with others
You are responsible for all activity under your account
One account per person is permitted

4. Acceptable Use

Permitted Uses

Personal price tracking for your own shopping decisions
Sharing products with friends and family
Contributing to the community price database

Prohibited Activities

You agree NOT to:

Use PriceGate for commercial purposes without authorization
Scrape, harvest, or collect data beyond personal use
Circumvent rate limits or quotas
Share your account credentials
Use automated tools to interact with the Extension
Spam the sharing or invite features
Attempt to reverse engineer the Extension
Use the Service to harm the supported stores or other users
Resell or redistribute data obtained from PriceGate
Use the Service for competitive intelligence gathering at scale
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers

5. User-Contributed Price Data

How Contributions Work

When you are signed in and use PriceGate, the price data from products you view or track is contributed to our shared community database. This crowdsourced model benefits all users by providing richer historical price data, including for products you have not personally tracked. Contribution happens automatically for signed-in users; there is not currently a separate opt-out toggle, so if you do not wish to contribute, you can use PriceGate locally without an account.

Your License Grant

By contributing, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to:

Collect, store, and process price data you contribute
Aggregate contributed data across users
Share aggregated price data with other users
Use contributed data to improve the Service

What Others See

The community price history and deal feed shown to other users are aggregated and do not display your identity, email, or account to anyone else. Each contribution is linked to your account identifier on our servers (so we can operate the Service, prevent abuse, and honour deletion requests), but that identifier is never exposed in the community feed or to other users. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Data Quality

You agree not to intentionally contribute false or misleading price data.

6. User Content

Your Data

You retain ownership of your personal data, including:

Products you track
Alert settings you configure
Personal preferences

Our License

You grant us a license to use, store, and process your data solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.

7. Sharing and Social Features

Quick Sharing (WhatsApp, Telegram, Copy Link)

You can share a deal by opening a prefilled WhatsApp or Telegram message, or by copying a link or chart image to your clipboard. These options simply hand the content to the app you choose. No account is required and PriceGate's servers are not involved.

Email Sharing to a Friend

Signed-in users may send a product to a friend's email address
Sharing is limited to 10 items per day
You are responsible for having permission to contact recipients
Shared content includes product details and your email address

Friend Invites

You may invite friends to install PriceGate
Invites are limited to 5 per day
You must have permission to contact invite recipients
Duplicate invites to the same email are prevented for 30 days

Referral Codes

Each account receives a unique referral code
Referral codes create friend connections when used
Connected friends can see each other's email addresses
You may share your referral code publicly

Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

Content you share with others
Having permission to contact recipients
Not using sharing features for spam or harassment

8. Affiliate Links and How PriceGate Is Funded

PriceGate is free to use, has no paid tier, and shows no ads. To help cover its costs, some links to stores may be affiliate links. When affiliate links are enabled, clicking through to a store from PriceGate may route via a redirect that adds an affiliate tag, and we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase.

It costs you nothing. Affiliate commissions do not change the price you pay.
Affiliate partners currently include Amazon Associates, Admitad, and ArabClicks.
We may record that an affiliate link was clicked (see the Privacy Policy for what is logged).
Participation in an affiliate program does not mean the store endorses or is affiliated with PriceGate.
We do not sell your personal information to affiliate networks. When you click through, a network may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.

As an Amazon Associate, PriceGate earns from qualifying purchases.

9. Third-Party Services

PriceGate interacts with third-party services:

Supported Stores

PriceGate is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Amazon, Sharaf DG, Zara, H&M, IKEA, Home Centre, Kibsons, Brands For Less, 6th Street, or any other store it supports.

We read publicly available product information from these stores' websites
Use of each store's services is subject to that store's own terms
Product availability, pricing, and information are controlled by the stores

Infrastructure and Partners

Supabase: cloud database and authentication. Subject to the Supabase Terms of Service.
Google: optional OAuth sign-in. Subject to the Google Terms of Service.
Resend: email delivery for friend shares and invites. Subject to Resend's terms of service.
Affiliate networks: Amazon Associates, Admitad, ArabClicks (see Section 8).
Currency exchange rate API (open.er-api.com), used to convert prices between currencies.

10. Intellectual Property

Our Property

PriceGate, including its code, design, logos, and branding, is our intellectual property. You may not:

Copy, modify, or distribute the Extension
Use our trademarks without permission
Create derivative works based on the Extension

Store Content

We make no claim to product information, images, or content from Amazon or any other supported store. All such content belongs to the respective store or its owners.

Your Data

You retain ownership of your personal tracking data and settings.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We specifically disclaim:

Price Accuracy: Price data may be inaccurate, delayed, or incomplete. Prices shown may differ from actual prices at the store.
Availability: Products may become unavailable or change without notice.
Service Uptime: We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Service.
Data Completeness: Historical price data may have gaps or errors.
Third-Party Actions: We are not responsible for the stores' or other third parties' actions or policies.

Not Financial Advice

PriceGate provides price tracking information only. It is not financial, investment, or purchasing advice. Always verify prices directly at the store before making purchasing decisions.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service (if any), or $100 USD, whichever is less
We are not liable for:
- Losses resulting from reliance on price data
- Missed deals or price drops
- Data loss or corruption
- Actions of third parties
- Service interruptions or errors

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PriceGate and its developer from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

Your use of the Service
Your violation of these Terms
Your violation of any third-party rights
Content you share or contribute

14. Termination

By You

You may stop using PriceGate at any time by:

Uninstalling the Extension
Deleting your account (if you have one)

By Us

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, including for:

Violation of these Terms
Abuse of the Service
Requests by law enforcement
Discontinuation of the Service

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

Your right to use the Service ends immediately
Local data remains on your device until you clear it
Cloud data may be deleted according to our data retention policies
Provisions that should survive termination will remain in effect

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates and, where applicable, the Emirate of Dubai, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service should first be raised with us and resolved through good-faith negotiation. Nothing in this section removes any mandatory protection you have under the consumer or data-protection laws of your country of residence. If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or elsewhere, you keep the rights and protections that the mandatory laws of your home country give you, and you may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do:

We will update the "Last updated" date
Significant changes may be communicated via the Extension or update notes
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance

If you do not agree to updated Terms, you should stop using the Service.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and PriceGate regarding use of the Service.
