PriceGate Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
PriceGate (formerly PriceSentry).
Overview
PriceGate is a browser extension that helps you track product prices across a range of online stores, including Amazon (16 international marketplaces, including Amazon.ae), Sharaf DG, Zara, H&M, IKEA, Home Centre, Kibsons, Brands For Less, iHerb, and 6th Street. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.
Data We Collect
1. Product Information
- Product URLs you choose to track, from the supported stores
- Product titles, prices, and availability
- Price history over time
- Product variations (size, color, etc.)
Purpose: To track prices and show you price history charts.
2. Crowdsourced Price History (Community Data)
How it works: When you are signed in and track or view a product, the observed price data is contributed to our shared community database. This crowdsourced model means all users benefit from richer historical price data. If you use PriceGate locally without an account, no price data is contributed.
Data contributed:
- Price points with timestamps
- Product identifiers (for example ASIN or a per-store canonical key, marketplace/store)
contributed_by field: your account identifier (user ID), stored on our servers with the contribution
source field: how the data was collected (page_visit or background)
Purpose: To provide comprehensive historical price data for products, even those you have not personally tracked. The more users contribute, the better the price history for everyone.
What other users see: The community price history and deal feed are aggregated. Your identity, email, and account are never shown to other users. The contributed_by identifier is your real account ID kept on our servers (so we can operate the Service, prevent abuse, and delete your data on request); it is not a random anonymous token, and it is never exposed in the community feed or any public response. Under data-protection law this is pseudonymous data (linkable to you on our servers), not anonymous data. Contribution is automatic for signed-in users and there is not currently a separate opt-out toggle; to avoid contributing entirely, use PriceGate without an account.
3. Source Tracking
We track how price data is collected:
page_visit: Data collected when you visit a supported product page
background: Data collected during automated background checks
Purpose: To understand data freshness and optimize collection methods.
4. Account Information (Optional)
If you choose to create an account for cloud sync:
- Email address
- Your password, stored only as a secure one-way hash (we never store or see it in plain text)
- Unique referral code (6 characters)
Purpose: To sync your tracked products across devices and enable social features.
5. Google OAuth (Optional)
If you sign in with Google:
- Email address from your Google profile
- Name (if provided by Google)
- OAuth tokens (securely stored)
Purpose: To provide a convenient sign-in method without creating a separate password.
Note: We never receive your Google password. You can revoke access anytime via your Google Account settings.
6. User Preferences
- Check interval settings
- Notification preferences
- Display settings
- Alert thresholds (target prices, percentage drops)
Purpose: To customize the extension to your preferences.
7. Product Sharing Data
PriceGate offers two ways to share a deal:
- Quick share (WhatsApp, Telegram, copy link/image): These open a prefilled message in the app you pick, or copy content to your clipboard. No account is needed and PriceGate's servers are not involved, so we do not collect anything for these.
- Email share to a friend (requires an account): processed through our backend, which stores the data below.
For email shares we store:
- Sender's email address (visible to recipient)
- Recipient's email address (entered by sender)
- Shared product details (identifier, title, price, thumbnail, URL)
- Share status (pending, delivered, archived)
- Quantity requested, and any optional note
Purpose: To enable sharing products with friends and family.
Rate limits: Maximum 10 email shares per day to prevent spam.
8. Friend Invites
If you invite friends to install PriceGate:
- Recipient's email address
- Invitation status and timestamp
- Your email (visible in invitation)
Purpose: To help you invite friends to use PriceGate.
Rate limits: Maximum 5 invites per day. Duplicate invites prevented for 30 days.
9. Referral Codes & Friendships
- Your unique 6-character referral code
- Friends list (bidirectional connections via referral codes)
- Friend email addresses (visible to connected friends only)
Purpose: To enable friend connections and product sharing.
10. Badge Progress (Gamification)
- Badge unlock timestamps
- Progress counters (products tracked, products viewed, deals found, days active)
- Recently viewed product identifiers (last 100, for the Explorer badge)
- First discovery flags
Purpose: To track your achievements and provide a rewarding experience.
11. What You Paid (Amazon Order History)
To show whether you got a good price, the extension reads your Amazon order history and order detail pages when you open them, or when you click "Fetch my prices" (which opens your order history in a background tab). From those pages it records, per product:
- Product identifier (ASIN) and title
- Price you paid, currency, and quantity
- Order date, Amazon order number, and the return-by date when Amazon shows one
It does not record payment details, addresses, or invoices.
Where it is stored: locally in your browser (Chrome extension storage). It is synced to PriceGate's servers only if you have cloud sync enabled. It is never sold or shared with anyone.
Purpose: To show "what you paid" on product pages and, if you keep the setting on, alert you when something you bought gets cheaper while it can still be returned. You can turn the alert off in Settings, and removing the extension deletes this data.
12. Affiliate Click Data
PriceGate is free and shows no ads. Some links to stores may be affiliate links (see the Terms of Service, Section 8). When affiliate links are enabled and you click one, we may record:
- Which store and which surface in the extension the click came from
- Which affiliate network was used (for example Amazon Associates, Admitad, ArabClicks)
- Your account ID, if you are signed in
- A timestamp
Purpose: To measure whether affiliate links work and to support the free Service. Affiliate commissions never change the price you pay.
13. Diagnostic / Parser Health Data
To detect when a store changes its website and breaks price reading, the extension records lightweight technical signals, for example that the price could not be parsed on a given store, with no product or personal content. Signed-in users' health signals may be stored in the cloud to help us spot and fix broken stores quickly.
Purpose: Reliability and troubleshooting.
14. Security & Abuse-Prevention Logs
For certain account and security-sensitive actions, our backend keeps an audit log that may include your account ID, the action taken, your IP address, and your browser's user agent string.
Purpose: To protect accounts, prevent abuse, and maintain a security trail. Our legal basis for this logging is our legitimate interest in keeping the Service and its users secure, and, where applicable, compliance with law.
15. Terms & Privacy Acceptance Records
When you accept our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, we record:
- Your user ID and the terms version accepted
- Timestamp of acceptance
- Whether you clicked the Terms of Service and/or Privacy Policy links (and when)
- Your browser's user agent string
Purpose: To maintain a legal audit trail proving informed consent, and to comply with GDPR and other privacy regulations that require demonstrable proof of user consent.
Note: If we update our terms, you will be asked to review and accept the new version. Previous acceptance records are retained as historical audit evidence.
How We Store Data
- Local Storage: All tracking data is stored locally in your browser by default using IndexedDB. We store only the product details and prices we need, never full copies of the pages you visit.
- Cloud Storage (Optional): If you sign up, data is stored in Supabase (a secure cloud database) and protected by Row Level Security (RLS) so only you can access your private data. Shared community price data can only be read or written through our own server functions, not directly.
Data Isolation
- Your personal product list is private to you
- Crowdsourced price history is aggregated and is not shown against your identity to other users
- RLS policies ensure users cannot access other users' private data
- Friends can only see each other's email addresses (not tracked products)
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Personal financial information
- Credit card or payment details
- Browsing history outside of the supported stores' product pages and your Amazon order pages (used only for What You Paid, above)
- Keystrokes or mouse movements
- Your store account credentials (for example your Amazon password)
- Personal identifying information beyond email (for accounts) and the security logs described above
- Your Google password (when using Google sign-in)

- Supabase: Cloud database, authentication, and shared price history. See Supabase Privacy Policy.
- Google OAuth: Optional sign-in via Google. See Google Privacy Policy.
- Resend: Email delivery for friend shares and invites. See Resend Privacy Policy.
- Affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, Admitad, ArabClicks): When affiliate links are enabled, clicks may pass through these networks. Each has its own privacy practices.
- Currency exchange rate API (open.er-api.com): Used to convert prices between currencies; requests do not include your identity.
- Chrome Extensions APIs: Storage, alarms, notifications, identity (for OAuth).
- WhatsApp / Telegram: Contacted only when you choose to quick-share; we send them nothing ourselves, your browser simply opens their share link.
Data Sharing
We do NOT:
- Sell your data to third parties
- Share your data with advertisers
- Use your data for profiling or targeting
- Share individual user data with other users (except email with connected friends)
We DO share:
